Although I personally tend to use lighter electric bicycles with concealed motor systems, these electric bicycles tend to have weaker motors and push up prices.Sometimes, you just want a powerful electric bike that won’t break the bank-but it won’t make a huge sacrifice in quality. To this end, it can meet your needs.
Since its launch in 2019, Lectric has taken the US electric bicycle market by storm. The company only really sells one electric bike, but it offers standard and stepping frames for those who prefer a lower standing height (I tested the latter). Now in its 2.0 version-with the addition of a suspension fork and slightly narrower tires-electric bikes at a price of US$949 (sold from a suggested retail price of US$1,099) provide very compelling power and Combination of functions, including freight.
When unboxing, the first thing that impressed me about -it was fully assembled-was how it felt assembled. The build quality feels a notch above its price point, and the cables are also neatly managed while still being repairable.
Although I can not use the conspicuous brand, the paint job has a very beautiful glossy finish, which feels much more elegant than many cheap electric bikes. It’s worth noting that Lectric even painted the suspension fork to match the rest of the bike; most other electric bikes don’t even bother at this price.
Although I sometimes worry about how durable some cheaper bicycles will be over time,  gives the impression that a bicycle that will not be suitable for garbage dumps in two years.Of course, the evidence is in the pudding—after all, the company has only been established for a few years—but this is a positive first impression.
Now it goes without saying that if you want to ride mostly like a regular bicycle, but need a little help, then this is not the kind of electric bike you get.Although it can be pedaled comfortably, in addition to strolling leisurely on flat terrain, you also want to use the motor for anything else-I expect many people will use this bike like a moped.
So, it is a good thing that this motor has enough power.Even if I only use the throttle, the powerful 500W motor can easily power my heavy self uphill.Of course, when you put in some of your own work, you will get the most benefit, but you don’t need to do this.
This bike only provides a basic cadence sensor (not a torque sensor), so there is nothing to write about the pedaling experience.Note that this is not a blow to Lectric-I have never tested that electric bicycles under $1,000 do have torque sensors, and they usually don’t appear until you pass the $2,000 threshold.
But in any case, Lectric is obviously adjusted to the zipper side of the spectrum, and the assist start speed is quite fast, rather than the more gradual assistance of some rhythm-based electric bicycles. Before you really feel the motor start, it needs to rotate about half a circle to a full circle. If it is not for the throttle, this is a problem at the red light or at the foot of the mountain.
As with many electric bicycles with throttle enabled, I find that when I stop, I don’t change gears, but simply use the throttle to accelerate and then return to the pedal when I reach a comfortable speed. This is a very popular choice, even if like me, you do prefer pedals because I can easily jump from a red light to a car and help me feel safer on the road.
Thanks to the sturdy tires and nice adjustable suspension forks,  also provides a more relaxed riding experience than most 20-inch wheels (or many bicycles in general). In fact, my review unit includes a suspended seatpost, which makes riding  extremely comfortable.
If your main goal is comfort when riding an electric bike, that’s great — for many people, it’s an accessibility issue — but I hope will consider expanding it with lighter options in the future electric bicycle. In terms of my personal taste, I think all the thick tires and suspension are a bit overkill and add to their own inconvenience, especially for urban residents.
On the one hand, fat tire rims mean that it is more difficult to find replacement tires when they eventually blow out; in my experience, bicycle stores usually don’t even have these types of fat tires in stock, and they are more likely to be reluctant to use fat tire electric bicycles.Old balloon tires on more traditional narrow rims can still provide a considerable degree of cushioning, while providing more flexible riding and easier to find replacements.
On the other hand, despite the small diameter of the wheels, the sturdy components also meant that the bike ended up being one of the 67-pound heavier electric bikes I tested. After testing dozens of electric bicycles in a small apartment in New York, I began to realize that even with electric bicycles, it is useful to lose weight here and there.
If you plan to store your bicycle in a garage or otherwise lock it in a safe ground location, this is not a problem, but it will become less convenient for city dwellers who may have to drag their bicycles up the stairs frequently Apartments, or for multi-mode commuters who might want to take their bicycles on the train. It’s not the kind of folding bike that I might throw into the shopping cart and bring into the grocery store, just like I might carry the slender .
To be fair, the same is true for every fat tire folding bike I have seen, so this is not just an excavation of .And I realize that for many customers, Fat Tire is a professional, not a liar. But given that the company currently only sells hope the company will consider lighter options in the future.
I should also note that I admire the “handles” welded in the middle of the frame. It is right at the center of gravity of the bicycle, and compared to other bulky electric bicycles, it makes a huge difference in dragging the bicycle around.
Considering the weight of the bicycle, you don’t have to ride the bicycle often when the battery is exhausted, which is a good thing. claims a cruising range of 45 miles. According to my experience, as long as you don’t use the throttle often, this seems realistic at a lower level of assistance-it still provides plenty of power.
For a rider of around 260 pounds, mixing pedal and accelerator in assist level 5, I found that I can reach a range of 20 miles on mostly flat New York terrain.Using almost no throttle and dropping to assist levels 2 and 3 significantly increased the range; I found that I could complete the same 20-mile trip with half of the remaining battery.Lighter riders should be able to drive more than 45 miles in level 1, which still provides significant help.I am also very grateful to Lectric for providing 10 levels for its battery indicator instead of 4 or 5 on most electric bicycles.
And because I don’t know where else to post it in this review, I definitely recommend the headlight upgrade.I don’t know how good the default headlights are, but at an extra $50, the high-quality headlights are brighter and have better beam patterns than some of the electric bikes I have tested for more than $2,000.
You won’t be surprised by the features of  or the smoothest pedal assist, but it offers great value with its solid construction, not its price. As long as lightweight and the most realistic pedaling experience are not in your priority,  makes me feel that it is one of the cheapest products in the electric bicycle market.
